I was walking around Old Navy the other day, not really looking for anything in particular; just walking around because I had nothing else to do.
There are always people fixing stuff around the front area of the store, folding clothes, or rearranging the trinkets and other cheap stuff that they leave in the front of the store so you can just add them to your cart on the way to the cash register (smart strategy). Those people are usually very nice and greet you on your way in. There was an older woman that smiled and greeted me on the way in. She looked like a nice person ..until I knocked something off a shelf.
It wasn’t really my fault, the thing was about to fall off with or without my help.
You see, normally when I walk around racks of clothes and I accidentally knock a hanger over, I turn around and pick it up. I have no problem with that. Though I have seen some people knock stuff over and awkwardly walking away. But this was different, I was looking at the assortment of aluminum bottles that are supposedly better for the environment, when I noticed that the pink one was about to fall off the edge of the shelf. As I was reaching for it, the thing fell!
The thing about these bottles is that they get a ding easily. Dent.. I mean they are easily dent-able.. They dent easy. They —O.K. you know what I mean. And the paint can be scratched off sometimes.
Of course I thought of the severity of this, and even though I’m glad it wasn’t a glass bottle, I still felt like it was a big deal, so I looked behind me to see if anybody had seen the incident, and sure enough there was a person there. It was the nice greeter, except she wasn’t looking very happy. And even though I’m not 100% sure about this, I think I saw her shake her head very slowly.
Very, very slowly.
Oh, the many times I’ve done this! It’s not even awkward for me anymore haha 🙂
tell me does that make it OK!? 😉
Did she make you buy the bottle?
I thought FOR SURE I was going to have to buy it, or hear something from her but nope. I just picked it up and placed it back. Then I pretended that my cell phone was vibrating and I “answered a call” and walked away.
And then ran.
..
Just kidding about the running, but I did walk out of the store soon after. haha
Try turning around to fast and having you purse knock over an entire shelf of unicorn shaped crystal figurines…. I was beat red and as shattered as the mythical creatures… and having to apologize relentlessly as both the clerk and I knew I could not afford to cover the damage I caused.
No way! :O
Oh…. wow…. what happened afterward??
Happens with me all the time.
I remember I was in this store in the clothes’ section when I accidentally knocked over a hanger and the garment fell on the floor. I stooped to pick up the dress and tried to put it back on the hanger without much success (There were so many loops and all). The clerk had seen me and so he rushed to my side, flashed *the courtesy smile* and said, “Let me.” I smiled, handed him the hanger and the dress and turned around…feeling…Awkward. Very.
Awwwwwwwwkwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarddddddddd
lol I know what you mean, the courtesy smile.. hahaha
Yea!
But what do they expect at places like Old Navy?? I mean, they pack in all kinds of crap on each shelf and tons of hangers on tons of racks to the point that it’s pretty much impossible NOT to knock something over! It’s not your fault…as awkward as it was. Haha.
Eww…I feel for you. At least it was only Old Navy. I once went into a small shop selling some figurines and my bag knocked over a $200 china shepherdess. I was so mortified. It also made the hugest shattering noise and everyone in the shop turned to stare at me.
Thankfully, the shopkeeper was really nice and asked me to make only a partial payment. But, still that’s probably the most expensive item I have never bought 😀
I am so wary of small shops after that episode.
Another one of those figurine incidents.. oh man, I really have to stay away from those shops. Sounds extremely awkward! I know I shouldn’t be laughing, but that’s just too funny.. haha!
LMAO! this is a killer.
The other day I was grocery shopping and I was in the bread isle. Looking at the assortment of bread, pitta for those who have an interest. Then out of the blue some rolled off the shelf, hit the floor, bounced up with the wrapping making that crunching plastic sound and then laid to rest. I counted them and it was two packets of bread.
I turned around and two shop attendents were there stocking up shelves. They looked at me then the items on the floor, then they looked away. I walked away…turned around at the end of the isle, safe gazing distance, and I could see them pick up the items.
This must be the first time shop attendents were embarrased ever!
Awkward .More due to “not really looking for anything in particular; just walking around because I had nothing else to do.”
BTW changed choco to linen ?? looks clean
